Istanbul Airport is one of the world’s most advanced aviation hubs, serving as a strategic bridge between East and West. Spanning over 1.4 million square meters under a single roof, it offers a seamless blend of modern technology and Turkish hospitality.
It is the busiest airport in Turkey and was the 5th busiest in the world in 2024, serving over 80 million passengers.
The airport is approximately 40 km from the city center and 52 km from the historic Sultanahmet district.
1. Terminal Layout
The airport operates from a single, massive terminal divided into five main piers (A, B, C, D, and F) for international flights and Pier G for domestic flights.
Check-in: The departures hall features 7 check-in islands (A to S) For international departures, it is strongly recommended to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours early; for domestic flights, 2 hours is sufficient
Walking Times: Due to the terminal's immense size, walking to the furthest gates can take up to 20–25 minutes. Please check the digital flight screens frequently.
2. Connectivity & TransportLocated approximately 40 km from the city center, the airport is well-connected:
Metro: The M11 Line provides a fast connection to the city's metro network.
Havaist & IETT: Luxury shuttle buses (Havaist) and public buses run 24/7 to major districts like Taksim, Sultanahmet, and Beşiktaş.
Taxi: Yellow (standard), Blue (comfort), and Black (premium) taxis are available at the arrivals exits.
3. Passenger Amenities
Digital Sky: The terminal features one of the world's largest duty-free areas, inspired by the Bosphorus, offering global luxury brands.
Wi-Fi: Passengers receive 1 hour of free Wi-Fi, accessible via SMS or by scanning their passport at "Wireless Internet" kiosks.

The IGA Lounge is open 24/7 and offers seating, food, showers, and sleeping rooms. Turkish Airlines also features world-class Business and Miles & Smiles lounges for eligible travelers.
YOTELAIR & YOTEL LANDSIDE
The YOTEL Istanbul Airport is located directly inside the terminal building, with rooms available both before and after security.
For overnight stays or short rests, YOTEL offers cabins both "landside" (before security) and "airside" (after security).
